Sunny Bolt: The tournament action has been going on for most of the weekend, let's recap you on the results of round 1 of the tag and lightweight tournaments...
MFWL TAG TOURNAMENT ROUND 1
Sick + Sexy
vs.
The Masters
SB: Weehawk and Alpha would be the first two in their to square off, thus kicking off the MFWL World Tag Team Tournament on Friday night. Weehawk was overpowered in the early going, being whipped from pillar to post and hit with hammerblows and smashes to the head. Weehawk would manage to escape to tag out. Early on Bane would have little more luck then Weehawk did. That is until he slipped behind Alpha to hit his CALL THE PARAMEDICS! He would follow this up with a heel hold and a loud SNAP would be heard throughout the arena! Weehawk was laughing hysterically in the corner as
Bane yanked back and forth on Alpha's leg! The ref would be forced to end the match really before he began. Omega was furious and ran into the ring double
clotheslining Bane and Weehawk both to the outside! Weehawk and Bane would know what was good for them and scramble back to the dressing room with another one of the quickest victories in the MFWL.
WINNERS: Sick + Sexy via critical in 0:59
The New Age Pirates
vs.
The Evil Dead
SB: This was the MFWL's first look at the New Age Pirates and first of Fleshmonger and Parasite in tag action. Cruz and Parasite started things off.
Cruz started things off in a hurry with repeated snap mare's on the undead creations. Both men would tag and 4 man carnage broke out. Fleshmonger would try to make it a boxing match while Cortez wanted to get inside for some wrestling moves. The Pirates would work well, keeping Flesh trapped in their corner. Once Cruz was tagged in he did a bit of brawling with Fleshmonger. He would not fair well doing this. He would quickly scoot out and tag Cortez back in. During this time Fleshmonger stayed in rather then tag in the fresh Parasite. William Cortez would have field day with the injured Fleshmonger, slamming him all over the place. Double team tactics would eventually get to Cortez but still no tag by Fleshmonger. At around 7 minutes in, he would finally tag Parasite in. Parasite would take Cortez to school. Cruz was hurt worse then Cortez was from the numerous choke holds and illegal holds delivered by the Evil Dead. Parasite would hit a reverse tombstone which left Cortez lifeless in the ring.
WINNERS: The Evil Dead via critical in 10:01
Edward Black ran down to ringside and smashed both Evil Dead with a huge anchor as they went back to the dressing room. Cruz and Black helped Cortez up and Black grabbed the mic.
Black: "This is an outrage and a travesty! I won't stand to see these undead scoundrels take out my first mates. I assure you the Pirates will be back in action by the time of next Rampage, on April 14. They have an open challenge to any team that day. These boys aren't scrubs, this was a fluke!"
The Navy Seals
vs.
421 4 LIFE
SB: Dick Marcinko and Big Poppa started things off. Marcinko cleaned house early knocking Poppa into his corner. R.D Slender would be tagged in by Poppa but it made no difference as Marcinko flung Poppa out of the ring and went to work on Slender. He would tag in Grundle. The fans erupted when Slender thought he was doing a smart thing holding the ropes when thrown to them, but Grundle hit him with a spinning forearm which sent him soaring over the top rope (Actually happend). All 4 men would get in a fight for a bit. But then Slender just had his way with Grundle. A quick tag was made to Big Poppa to continue the damage. Nick was in a lot of trouble but managed to smash Poppa with an back elbow to jump to his corner and make the tag. CHAOS would come about as ALL 4 men made their way to the outside and near the right entranceway. It was out here Dick gave Big Poppa a DOOM ON YOU Chokeslam!! Dick would roll bakc into the ring to help deal with Slender and Poppa would be counted out.
WINNERS: The Navy Seals via countout in 5:57
MFWL LIGHTWEIGHT TOURNAMENT ROUND 1
El Cosmico
vs.
Little O.C. Murray
SB: The entire fed has been awaiting the lightweight division and it arrived on Friday night to ther delight of many. Cosmico would make Murray's chest red early with some ferocious knife edge chops! He would also hit other moves such as Snap Mare's and takedowns. Perhaps experience despite Cosmico's lack of success would prove to be enough? Perhaps, but not this early. After a minute or so Murray warmed up and came back with some moves of his own. This attack would be short lived before returning the advantage to Cosmico. For the next few minutes they would continue to switch control of the match. A near fall came when Murray gave Cosmico a Huracana. Cosmico would show further resilance when he withstood Murray's 421 w.Legover, a version of the Sharpshooter/Scorpion Death Lock. Cosmico would come back
with a vengeance for about a period of two minutes around the 6 minute mark. He would apply his GREAT RED SPOT three times but Murray would always reach the ropes or escape it in some way or another. Murray would hit numerous Dragon leg whips after this, and about 8 minutes in Cosmico went down and was clutching his knee, but the ref let the match go on. Murray climbed to the top, raised his fist to the crowd and launched with a moonsault!
But the ropes would save Cosmico!! Murray would go on to try several different pins to no avail, a last second escape each time. The 10 minute mark would pass, and then the 11. it Made no difference to these men, they wanted to win. Finally just before the twelve minute mark Cosmico would make a fatal mistake and miss a dropkick. Murray attached the W.Legover and Cosmico was forced to submit.
WINNER: Little O.C. Murray via submission in 11:57
El Annunaki
vs.
Shadow
SB: Annunaki we had seen but this was a debut for the mysterious masked blue man called Shadow. Would it be the fiery red head, or the masked man of unknown origin? The first real flurry went to Shadow who hit Annunaki with about 12 punches in a row to send him to the mat. He worked over Annunaki's legs often with elbow drops. Shadow would show some aerial skill with a top rope fist drop and corkscrew moonsault for a near fall. He would also show brute force as he delivered a diamond cutter to Annunaki. Annunaki would not find a successful tactic in this match unfortunatly. he would escape Shadow's FADE TO BLACK, a modified Camel Clutch, but would not escape the sleeperhold which followed it. At the rate matches have been going, this could be a record finish for the lightweights.
WINNER: Shadow via submission in 3:20
Dreamaster
vs.
'Notorious J.O.B' Dale Winters
SB: After picking up his second MFWL victory, Winters seemed pumped to
face Dreamaster. He was also trying to promote his new group, the Job Squad. And this fire would carry over for Winters, giving him the advantage at least in the early going. They both seemed to like some of the same moves, including back suplex's and back brain kicks. Winters however had the advantage through and through, getting several near falls along the way. It was then that something amazing happend...Dreamaster turned on! Always known, at least so far, as a quick started and bad in the end, he seemed to only get ignited after catching a beating. Hitting his LIGHT OUT DDT, a JAWBREAKER, and a Dragon Sleeper were just some of the highlights. But it was too late in coming. As said he had caught a beating and it was only a matter of time before Winters polished him off with a reversal of a slam into a small package.
WINNER: 'Notorious J.O.B' Dale Winters via submission in 7:23
Pain
vs.
Rebel
SB: This match seemed like it was in fast forward with both men zipping around the ring and doing moves every second. Rebel would prove to be very impressive in his first battle. Pain would apply some submissions but again they lacked effect and were held on for only a short time. Perhaps it is his lack of targeting one body part or too spread attack, but for some reason success and Pain have taken two different paths. Rebel had a very good fight, and ended it with his Rock + Roll Powerbomb/pin combo.
WINNER: Rebel via pinfall in 4:51
'EXTREME' Condo Warrior
vs.
Great Panther
SB: This match took a few minutes to start as Condo had to get just a few last poses in before the fight. It was a struggle at the start, both men were having trouble hitting their moves. Condo's attack seemed concentrated on the neck, perhaps for his finisher. Panther on the other hand was just trying to wear him down and train some energy out of him with various slams and leg takedowns. He had Condo singing the high notes after a big inverted atomic drop! he would try a couple pins, but not even get a one count so Panther continued on the attack. A Stretch Buster/STF combo worked well. The Torture Rack was also a move used by him to work over Condo. An AMAZING display took place when Condo tried a THRUST KICK and Panther caught him in a ROLLING PRAWN hold in mid air for a V-E-R-Y close 3 count. Condo would finally come back after this with a series and lock on his UNCLE CONDO for what I thought would be the end, but as has been the story tonight, Panther got out. After a BODY SLAM by Condo, he probably could have gotten a three, but instead did his best Hulkamania impression and posed a bit. An CRUSIFIX ARM BAR would instead be done and Panther would escape it. It was during the next escapade Condo would be caught. After he slammed Panther down he again did some flexing, but got caught in a JAGUAR ROLL CRADLE upon turning around and a three count ended it.
WINNER: Great Panther via pinfall in 7:36
SB: But only the match ended. After that match the NAVY SEALS came to the ring and beat up Condo, tieing him up and throwing him in a life size.. condom? Nasty Nick then had some things to say...
'Nasty' Nick Grundle : "adies and Gentleman, I give you the EXTREME Condom Warrior, biggest windbag, and Extreme Loser of the MFWL. (Nick kicks the bag) I hear the Jobber Squad has a place for yah (raises his hand for some cheers). Now you little prick, its time for lights out and a good long sleep for yah. I told ya not to mess with me boy and now its time for a lesson You'll NEVER forget. Boy, its your 'Final Countdown.'
(Nick then gave him several B.O.H.I.C.A Slams before leaving to cheers from the crowd)
SB: Coming up next, the Special Challenge match! And after that round 2 action from these tournaments, from Saturday Night.
